Recently, “the best of both worlds” became a true statement in and around the KTTP office with the release of the Neymar x Jordan collection. In light of this historic collaboration of Nike Football and Brand Jordan, we reached out to some of our sneaker connoisseur friends to attend the Neymar x Jordan event at Hangar 23 to give us their sneakerheads’ take on this epic release.

Dallas Penn had this to say about this beautiful collaboration.

“Over the last thirty years no sneaker has embodied sneaker culture more than the Air Jordan. The brand is the ultimate ideal of performance and style whether you are in a game or in the streets. Michael Jordan is a globally recognized icon even if he hasn’t played a game of basketball in more than a decade. He and his brand define the highest level of competition on a global scale. It only seems right that his brand should form partnerships with other athletes of the same caliber.

“The Jordan Brand transcends beyond the sport in which Michael Jordan dominated and extends to all other sports including the sport that most of us play everyday–The game of life.

“The Air Jordan Retro V x Neymar Jr is a highly stylistic shoe. The upper consists of a 3M material which will have the wearer shining in day or night. The shoe [was] released as a Quickstrike offering which means the limited quantity is perfect for the sneakerhead who wants to own some rare air.

“The event was a perfect mix of sneakerheads and soccer fans. The two groups not realizing how much they have in common.

“I’m going to give Hip-Hop culture the credit for this union of sports and style cultures. Hip-Hop teaches us to mash up and remix things to fit our tastes and lifestyle. I think the Neymar Jr. 5s are a sleeper this summer. Those who were prescient enough to pick up will have a great sneaker to start a conversation or just ‘kick’ it around the way.”
